September 1999
The President's Corner.........
I hope everyone had a great summer! It's hard to believe that the children are back in school, and that the leaves on our beautiful Tennessee trees will soon start to change color.
The NCMA ET Chapter Board held its annual planning and team building meeting on August 18, 1999. At that meeting we started the process of planning our focus and activities for the 1999-2000 Program Year. As in the past, we will focus on providing educational and professional development opportunities for our members. We will again sponsor a National Education Seminar. We will also provide other full-day training opportunities at reasonable cost. Many of our membership luncheons will be preceded by Workshops on topics of member interest. We will start CPCM, CACM, and/or SAS study groups to assist interested members in applying and preparing for these professional certification exams. Watch for announcements in this and future newsletters.
Our speaker at this month's Membership Luncheon will be Pete Dayton. Mr. Dayton will give us an update on current Department of Energy activities and the Oak Ridge procurement community. We are part of a rapidly changing procurement and contracting environment, and its imperative that we all keep pace.
We hope you will be able to join us at the first Membership Meeting of this Program Year, on September 8, 1999 at 11:30 a.m. at the Garden Plaza Hotel.
