Meeting Minutes November 1999

Elise Roske called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m.

The Officer and Committee update/status reports were as follows:

Secretary: Katherine Bumgardner requested the approval of the November board meeting minutes. The board approved the minutes.

Education: Karen Shears and Darlene Ahlers reported that Chuck Williams would conduct a workshop, “Latest Issues in Small Business Procurement”, preceding the membership luncheon. Discussion regarding soliciting the participation of the board of advisors in sponsoring and attending the “Best Value in Procurement” seminar ensued. DOE has committed to send 10-15 participants. Much positive feedback was obtained on Derek Batiste’s “ MOBIS Contracting” workshop last month. There was maximum participation at the workshop. Ideas for future workshops were discussed. Education will explore the possibility of offering another MOBIS type workshop. They will contact GSA about the possibility of providing a seminar.

Scholarship: Supplemental scholarship applications are due by January 15, 2000.

Program: Toni Duval will be our guest speaker at the December luncheon. We do not have any one committed to speak at the January luncheon. Program has made several requests.

Membership: DOE will not renew their membership.

Employment: No report. Historian: No report.

Graalman: No report

Constitution and Bylaws: No report.

NES: Robert Madgett reported for Dave Methot. NES conducted an organizational kick off meeting.

Newsletter: Input due by Friday.

Publicity and Website: Robert Madgett reported that a link was added for the trip to Hawaii on the website. Al Guidry place two employment opportunities on the web. Robert suggested that we consider a message board on the web page. The board was in favor of adding the message board. The content of the message board was discussed. Robert requested that we advertise the NES on the web page.

Fellows: No report.

Certification: Conducted the first study group this month. The group will meet the first Tuesday of every month.
