“Beans” – The Language of Business and Why We Count ‘Em – Mr. Lynn R. Youngs

Mr. Youngs was named as Executive Director of the Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville, where he has taught in the MBA program since 1993. He is an entrepreneur with experience across multiple industries, including retail, manufacturing, transportation, financial services, healthcare, and education. He has held positions of Chief Financial Officer, Vice President in a $1.2B public retail chain, and Chief Opera􀆟ng Officer in a $50M transportation company. Mr. Youngs has extensive experience in government contracting from the corporate side, serving seven years in various management roles, including CFO, of a subcontractor to multiple prime contractors on several programs with the DOD and DOE. Mr. Youngs’ specialty and passion involves fostering new business development.
This one-day workshop will provide a guided analysis of financial reporting for contract managers and small business representatives, how to digest financial reports and the elements beyond the numbers, and understand how cash flow sometimes can be more important than profitability.
Contract managers are required to determine a seller’s financial responsibility when awarding contracts with federal funds. This course will help you beef up your knowledge and understanding of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. As a small business manager, what do your financial reports and other metrics tell your customer?
